Kurian Benjamin knows about building a fast-growing company in a business where competition flares with an eternal flame. A native of India who came to this country in 1975, he worked for Control Data Corporation in Minnesota and the Federal Reserve Bank of Houston, Texas and the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank before taking his entrepreneurial plunge.

As the founder and president of Benco Delivery Service, Kurian has seen revenue grow from $20,000 to over $3 million. Based in St Paul, Benco provides expedited and scheduled delivery of products, medical supplies, documents and other supplies for over 600 customers. As Benco Delivery Service commitment to the community, Kurian has served as co-chair of the membership committee of the Minnesota Minority Supplier Development Council, as Board of Director for St. Paul Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chair of Diversity Initiatives Committee and as Board of Director for Ramsey County Workforce Investment Board. 

He earned his extensive knowledge of customer service and business knowledge through a wide range of business experience. Kurian owned and operated Cousins Subs in Minnesota. In 1998 started Galaxy Granite and Marble, a wholesale distributor of granite products from around the world. He started Premium Stoneworks, a company for the fabrication and installation of Granite, Marble and other natural stone products for residential and commercial buildings..

He has received the Supplier of the Year Award from Minnesota Minority Supplier Development Council. Has received the Supplier of the Year Award from National Minority Supplier Development Council and the Walter and Lydia Deubener Award for Small Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce. Also has received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Metropolitan Economic Development Association and the Business Journal Minority Business Award.

In these tough economic times, Kurian has been looking at different ways to succeed in his courier business by expanding the business to other cities. He opened his first out of state courier service operation in Dallas, Texas. His son, Shawn Benjamin, is heading the delivery operation in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
